How stock moves through the business
Seven steps, start to finish. Pick a step to see what happens there and what you can read about it. Fifteen minutes end to end, and you will understand every number in the app.
Buy
Step 1 of 7You decide what to order and from whom, and the order goes out. A purchase order is a promise: it records what you expect to arrive, at what price, and when.
Nothing about your stock changes at this step. Approving an order does not add a single unit — that happens when the goods physically turn up and someone counts them.
- Goes up
- Nothing. An order on its own holds no stock.
- Doesn’t move
- Stock. A promise from a supplier is not inventory.
- Written down
- The order, its lines, and the quantities you expect.
- Watch out
- An approved order can sit for weeks. Expected quantities are not available quantities, and nothing should be sold against them.
